Response Surface Optimization of Inulin and Polyphenol Extraction from Artichoke (Cynara scolymus (L.)) Solid Wastes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Artichoke wastes after processing represent 60–70% of the raw material and are a potential source inulin polyphenols, bioactive compounds that can be valorized as food ingredients or nutraceutical products. The aim this work was to assess optimize extraction these from artichoke using water water–ethanol mixtures extracting agents. For simultaneous polyphenol achieve high antioxidant activity in extracts, best process conditions an agent were T = 89 °C t 139 min, where 80% content, 60% total phenolic content (TPC) 56% (Aox) obtained. extractions, results obtained with EtOH 22.4%, 81 217 leading yields 90% TPC, 38% Aox 58% content. From results, we recommend use for recovery polyphenols wastes. Although yield is lower treatments, amount extracted considerable it greener option when compared mixtures.

Phenolic Compounds from Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) By- products and their Antimicrobial Activities
Cynara scolymus L. is a medicinal plant frequently used in traditional medicine for liver diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the different parts of Artichoke. Maximum antimicrobial activity was observed with methanolic extract of bound phenols for (bract and heart) against Gram negative bacteria. The MIC values for bound phenols from heart were (63μg/ml...
متن کاملA Multi-Objective Optimization of Artichoke (Cynara Scolymus L.) Leaves Aqueous Extraction Dehydration Through a Novel Spray Drying Approach Using Response Surface Methodology
In this study, Cynara scolymus L. leaves aqueous extract powder was produced using a novel spray drying approach by incorporation of ongoing ultrasonic atomization and vacuumed drying chamber. A Response Surface Methodology (RSM)-based central composite face-centered design was employed for optimization of the operating conditions of the ultrasonic vacuum spray dryer. The independent variab...

In this study, the quantitative amounts of chlorogenic acid (CA) in spray dried artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) leaf extract (SD) and standardized artichoke commercial products (CP1, CP2) were calculated by using HPLC. The amounts of CA were 4.66±2.96x10 mg/capsule and 27.9±9.98x10 mg/capsule for CP1 and CP2 respectively. The in vitro phytoequivalance of SD, CP1 and CP2 were evaluated by using t...
متن کاملInhibition of cholesterol biosynthesis in primary cultured rat hepatocytes by artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) extracts.
High-dose aqueous extracts from artichoke leaves were found to inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis from 14C-acetate in primary cultured rat hepatocytes in a concentration-dependent biphasic manner with moderate inhibition (approximately 20%) between 0.007 and 0.1 mg/ml and more strong inhibition at 1 mg/ml. Cytotoxic effects detected by lactate dehydrogenase leakage and the 3-[4, 5-dimethylthiazol...
متن کاملSensory evaluation of biscuits enriched with artichoke fiber‐rich powders (Cynara scolymus L.)
The artichoke by-products from the canning industry are mainly used for silage, being minimally revaluated. The ways of extraction of by-products of artichoke into fiber-rich powders modify their industrial applications in biscuits, as the sensory evaluation may change compared with the reference fiber (Pea fiber, P) used with commercial biscuit. In this sensory study biscuits enriched with fib...
